I am a General Surgeon, from Portugal and, as the author of the term “Surgenials” to nominate the Young surgeons of millenials/Y generation, I am honored to be one of them! Experienced Doctor with a demonstrated history of working in the Surgical Education and medical practice industry as a Founder of FirstTouch Surgical Academy (2017), Creator of the FirstTouch General Surgery Course (2017) and the Ci-lap (Introduction to Laparoscopy Course) (2013-2016).

Skilled in Minimal Invasive Surgery and Medical Devices, with a Best Student Certificate at the “Advanced Laparoscopy Postgraduate Course” from Universidade Nova de Lisboa (2014), and other prizes. I am the founder of Firstouch Academy and the First Touch Course and I am the creator of the #training4all project that aims to take Laparoscopic suture to every surgeon and Surgical resident of Portugal.

Recently I have been invited to create and coordinate a new Surgical Simulation Center of the Universidade da Beira Interior, that I called CUBI, unifying the word cube, with 6 faces (6 objectives of the center) and the UBI abbreviation for the University. I have a special interest in Minimally Invasive Surgery of the Abdominal Wall and Bariatric Surgery, and since 2021 I am a FELLOW of the European Board of Surgery in Abdominal Wall.

I have completed the SECO Bariatric Surgery Basic Competency Certificate (2016) and a SECO Scholarship in Bariatric Surgery from “SECO - Spanish Society for Obesity Surgery” (2016). In October 2022, I have been awarded the Hans Jeekel Research Award in Abdominal Wall Surgery with our original research work “Initial validation of a new simulation model for robotic hernia repair”, at the 2022 EHS Manchester Congress.
